EU VAT rates lookup
Pick a member state and read its VAT rates as they stand in our table: the standard rate, the reduced rates, the super-reduced and parking rates where they exist, and the rate the state applies to the usual case of seven categories (digital services, e-books, printed books, foodstuffs, hotel accommodation, restaurants, newspapers). Every row carries the day it was verified (table verified 2026-10-24, next review 2026-11-24) and the official page it was read from. No call is made: the table is in the page.

Janolab Studio LLC makes software. It is not a law firm, an accounting firm or a tax, financial or legal adviser. Answers come from public registries and checksums; you check the result, make the decision (the tax treatment of a supply, the acceptance of a VAT number or an IBAN) and remain responsible for how you use it.
- 27 member states, each with its own page for the detail and the sources. Greece is
EL; the UK, Switzerland and Norway are outside the table. - The category rates are hints for the usual case: the legal classification of a given supply is the seller’s decision, and the note on a row says when a category splits (food 12 %, drinks 21 % in Belgian restaurants, for instance).
- A rate that changed in the last two years carries the date it started applying (Estonia 24 % since 1 July 2025, Finland 25.5 % since 1 September 2024, Romania 21 % since 1 August 2025, Slovakia 23 % since 1 January 2025).
- The same table answers the API’s
GET /vat/rates/{country}and checks every row of an OSS return; what you read here is what the code uses.
Which rate for a sale to a consumer in another member state
Since 1 July 2021, a B2C sale of goods or digital services to a consumer in another member state is taxed at the rate of the consumer’s country once the seller’s EU-wide B2C sales pass €10,000 a year (the OSS rule). The rate to look up is therefore the customer’s country, not yours; the category hint says which rate that country applies to what you sell.
How the table is verified
Each row is read from the Commission’s "VAT rates applied in the Member States" publication and the national administration’s page; a change announced after the Commission’s edition is taken from the national page, cited on the row. The review is monthly; the method is written on its own page.

Questions
- Are these rates official?

- Territories with their own regime (Corsica, the French overseas departments, the Canary Islands, the Azores and Madeira, Åland, Heligoland and others) are not in the table; the country page says so in its note.
